As marketers we have been on a soap box for years about how important it is to establish a sense of transparency through business social media accounts. Transparency increases a sense of authenticity, builds brand loyalty and build trust with current and potential customers. Until now, we were responsible for not only verifying and managing the company information but choosing which information is available.
Now, with this change, Google will add this information on behalf of businesses and your potential customer will have access to this additional information about you as an advertiser therefore eliminating the inferred sense of a bias in the information about you.
Today, we live in a curated world filled with false information and fake companies buying for attention; transparency adds a layer of trust which is critical in a time where it can be extremely difficult to decipher real from fake.
